Virtual reality for physical therapy

Virtual reality is the computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way by a person using special electronic equipment, such as a helmet. We control each parameter of this virtual environment which allows us to create assessment and rehabilitation exercices for your patients : balance, spine, vestibular, or upper limb.

HOW IT WORKS?

RELIEVE YOUR PATIENT'S PAIN

US scientists from the Oregon Burn Center have tested virtual reality on severely burned children requiring painful daily care. The results exceeded their expectations, with a reduction in the pain felt by 80%.

VR is increasingly used to replace anesthesia when it is not possible or in the context of chronic pain, cancer, or postoperatively. Its pain control works equally well on children, adults and seniors.

As a physiotherapist, analgesic means exist but can sometimes be limited, for example in the case of a very inflamed knee or a painful shoulder. This is even more obvious in the case of patients with long-term conditions. 75% of them apprehend pain and hold back their movements for fear of suffering.

Thanks to virtual reality, go beyond kinesiophobia by focusing on exercise.

ACCURATE TRACKING

Thanks to the use of a high quality, realistic reality headset, KineQuantum benefits from the most efficient tracking system on the market. It uses two base stations as well as many built-in sensors on the helmet and on the joysticks. The stations send infrared flash (which we can not see) at a frequency of 60 times per second.

The sensors have a kind of built-in timer which, every time they receive the light sent by the stations, starts again.

The information is sent to the virtual reality headset explaining how much time it has taken, thus allowing the position to be detected as a function of reaction times.

All the movements of your patients are closely monitored.
